If you live in the Hotchkiss Fire District, click here* to find a map that shows your home's relative safety from wildfire.  Homes that have green dots by their address are relatively safe, those with orange dots are less safe, and those with red dots are at risk.  Many driveways are also color-coded with the same criteria.

If your home does not have the color-coded dot by the address it means your home is not rated because: it's new and we haven't gotten to it yet or your home is in an area that we consider forest fires are unlikely.  That doesn't necessarily mean that it's safe from wildfire, grasses, weeds, and other fuels can put an unrated house at risk.  Because the amount of grass, weeds, and conditions causing them to burn can vary widely from year to year, we have not included houses in those areas in the mapping.  The mapping is designed to show the risk to homes subjected to heavy, long-term fuels.
